Our General Meeting program in March will feature members of Seeking Insights for Solutions (SIS). A group of two Black and two White women from Palm Coast, SIS came together in 2020 after the death of George Floyd to dialogue and connect. The SISters' presentation will describe their group's process for communicating across cultures.

January General Meeting Follow-Up

Our annual Tech Trek meeting featured six of the 13 girls we sent to the STEM camp in 2024. Each girl spoke about her experience at Tech Trek, the core class she chose, other workshops she enjoyed, her favorite part of the camp, and the impact on her of participating in the program. We also heard from a Tech Trek alumna who is now a junior in high school. She reflected on the longer-term impact of having participated in the camp as a rising eighth grader.

For more about these amazing young women, click HERE. Visit our Tech Trek page to learn more about this unique program and how you can support it.

Also attending the meeting were DeAnna Diggs, Director of Youth Development at Lake Sumter State College, and Dieter Kadur, STEM Coordinator for Sumter County Schools. They are pictured below.

Annual Scholarship Fundraiser Forms Available

This year's flyer and donation form for the fundraiser that supports Lake/Sumter AAUW's Scholarship Program are now available. Download them  HERE.

Again this year, Gold in Art Jewelers has donated a stunning piece for the drawing: the 18k gold bracelet pictured at right.

For each $10 donated, a card with the donor's name on it will be entered into a chance drawing. The winner's name will be drawn at our February 22, 2025, General Meeting. Donors do not need to be present to win; the drawing and the meeting are open to the public.

So, get your tickets and help worthy young women complete their undergraduate education...and maybe you'll win the bracelet, too!
