Hi there — and welcome!
We’re so glad you’re here and excited to introduce you to the official blog of Lake/Sumter (FL) Branch of the American Association of University Women.
Whether you’re a long-time supporter, a new friend, or just curious about the work we do, you belong here. This blog is a space where we’ll share stories, celebrate progress, and connect with people who care about making a difference — just like you.
Who We Are
We are proud to be part of an organization committed to advancing equity for women and girls through education, research, and advocacy. Our local branch focuses on education — one of the most powerful tools for change.
We offer:
STEM camperships to rising 8th grade girls, helping spark curiosity and confidence in science, technology, engineering, and math.
College scholarships to women completing their baccalaureate degrees, supporting their journeys and empowering their futures.
Why a Blog?
We created this blog to share more of the why behind what we do — and the who. We'll be lifting up the voices of the women and girls we support, shining a light on the impact of our programs, and offering ways for you to get involved and stay inspired.
What to Expect
Here on the blog, you’ll find:
Updates on our learning programs, Tech Trek, and College Scholarships
Spotlights on our members, volunteers, and scholarship recipients
Stories that inspire and educate
How you can support our work
Our Vision
Our vision is to be the premier organization in Lake and Sumter Counties offering college-educated women opportunities to keep learning, growing, and giving back to the community. Whether you’re interested in mentoring, volunteering, or just learning more — there’s a place for you here.
Let’s Stay Connected
We’d love to hear from you! Feel free to leave a comment, ask a question, or share your story. And if you want to stay in the loop, be sure to subscribe so you don’t miss a post.
