Social Interest Groups
Lake/Sumter AAUW offers members numerous opportunities to engage with other members in social interest groups. Relationships built in social groups fuel our working teams to achieve mission-driven goals. All groups welcome new members, so join in!
Bridge
Bridge-playing branch members play in members’ homes at 1:00 p.m. on the second and fourth Mondays of the month. Game locations are announced ahead of time; players must notify the hostess of intent to play.
Educated Palates
Educated Palates gets together two or three times a year to plan a dinner featuring the cuisine of a country of interest to them. They select recipes and decide who will make what as well as when and where the dinner will be held. The leader will send an email notice to announce the planning meeting. All members are invited to participate, and spouses/partners are welcome.
Conversational
Mah Jongg
The Conversational Mah Jongg Group (talking is allowed!) plays in members’ homes at 1:00 p.m. on the second and fourth Mondays of each month. Players of all levels are welcome. Locations are announced ahead of time; players must notify the hostess of intent to play.
Singles Group
Our newest Interest Group, the Singles Group was created a few years ago by a member who was newly single. The group doesn’t have regular meetings, but they organize, among other things, dinners, lunches, theater outings, and day trips to places that group members enjoy.
Finger Food and Fun
The leader of Finger Food and Fun selects dates and invites interested members and their spouses/partners to her home for a BYO beverage and an hors d’oeuvre to share. She schedules two or three of these gatherings each year. They're great fun and provide another way for members to get to know each other better.

Dine Around
Dine Around offers members the opportunity to dine out with others for up-scale food in up-scale locations two or three times each year…no fast-food here. The group leader selects dates and locations, and has an announcement sent to the members. She also usually invites the group to her home for drinks before dinner. Dine Around welcomes all members and their spouses/partners.
